MAN OF SORROWS--WHAT A NAME
   Words: Phillip P. Bliss, 1875
   Tune: Hallelujah! What a Savior, by Phillip P. Bliss, 1875
   Season: Lent, Holy week, Good Friday, Easter

   G      (G/F#)      Em       B
1 "Man of Sorrows," what a name
2 Bearing shame and scoffing rude,
3 Guilty, vile, and helpless me,
4  Lifted   up  was   He  to   die;
5 When He comes, our glorious King,

   C        G          D      A   D
1 For the Son of God, who came
2 In my place con-demned He stood,
3 Spotless Lamb of God was He.
4  "It  is  finished," was    His cry;
5 All His ransomed home to bring,

   G     (G/F#)     Em   C     G
1 Ruined sinners to re - claim!
2 Sealed my pardon with His Blood.
3 Full a-tonement! Can it be?
4 Now in Heaven ex-alt -ed high!
5  Then a-new this  song we'll sing:

   G  (D) G  D    Em     C  G
*  Hal-le-lu-jah! What a Sa-vior

Unusual Chords:
G/F# 220003

Notes:
   Whenever I've sung this, the last line is always done slower,
   starting with "lu" of Hallelujah, and going at about half
   speed from there. (Your preference may vary.)

   The G/F# isn't in any music I found. But I like it.

   Skipping the D in the last line works just fine. If you're
   doing it at a faster tempo, in place of the D try G9 (320201).
